No other artist enthuses a young audience for classical music more than he does: the 29-year-old pianist Lang Lang is a much-fêted guest in all of the world's great concert-halls, and his performances are always sold out. At the same time, he manages to shake off the sometimes dusty image of the classical music scene. The means he uses are simple enough: his expressivity, his virtuosity, and his artistic sensitivity have made him what he is. In Bonn he is demonstrating his talents with works by Bach, Schubert and Chopin. The climax is the Chopin's Twelve Études op. 25, short pieces that hardly let listeners know just how much they demand of the performer.
