Backstage...
Student Internships

The Beethovenfest Bonn, with its project Backstage..., offers students from schools in Bonn the chance to spend a day in the company of one of the festival team. By shadowing the Intendant, running around with one of those looking after the performers, and coming close-up to the musicians, experiencing for a day all the press appointments live, the young people aged between 13 and 18 get an insight into everything that goes into organizing a concert.

This approach reaches out to all school students, from every type of school, and not just those who are already familiar with, fans of, or indeed players of classical music. The reports subsequently written by the students show how much a single day behind the scenes can alter the way they see the music, making it interesting for youngsters of their age. “I always found classical music boring, but that’s all changed. Since 25 August I think that classical music isn’t so bad after all.” (quote Manu Hagenhoff)
