First presentation of the new album
For the pop elites of the 1980s and 1990s, Manu Katché was clearly the percussionist of choice. Peter Gabriel‘s ‘Sledgehammer’ wayed to Katché‘s delicate shuffle; Sting relied on the groove expertise of this French musician in his ‘Nothing Like The Sun’; Tears for Fears gave ample room to his impressive changes of metre in ‘Badman‘s Song’. For his new album, ‘Unstatic’, this self-proclaimed ‘coloriste’ came to grips with a wish for a new sound-aesthetic that sharpens the ear for his wealth of detail and nuance. Always vibrant, the composer, bandleader and drummer Manu Katché lays down clear structures that his musician friends, with their wide array of solo hues, will shape and expand into thrilling and captivating edifices of sound.
