Works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Arnold Schönberg, Wolfgang Rihm and Jörg Widmann

A single day, a single genre – with added discussions and lots of music. Audiences love this sort of concentration and intensity. This time the focus falls on song. Folk songs, art songs (with and without words), character pieces: anything goes. Another concern is to ‘rescue’ Beethoven’s lieder from his efficacious successors Schubert and Schumann. The discussion lies in the capable hands of Siegfried Mauser, who will also accompany baritone Matthias Winkler at the piano
