Since the 1980s the renowned Belgian composer and film artist Thierry De Mey has explored the relations between dance and music. Being a film-maker, he’s just the man to creatively transport the language of dance into the medium of film in new and exciting ways. His fascination with the ballet scores of Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy has given rise to three films with choreographies by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Thomas Hauert. Enchanted forests, the hostile shores of Lake Aral and the dizzying heights of a skyscraper serve as settings. The Beethovenfest presents this exhilarating audio-visual evening on three movie screens with live accompaniment from the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra.
