STRING QUARTET WEEKEND I

The Asasello Quartet likes to get close to their audience. The centrepiece of their Beethovenfest recital is the première of a new work composed specifically for them by Márton Illés, a student of Wolfgang Rihm who was born in Budapest in 1975. Also on the programme is Beethoven’s E-flat major Quartet of 1824, a work pointing far into the future. Finally, the evening ends with Schoenberg’s monumental op. 7, a 45-minute quartet in a single movement modelled, the composer tells us, on Beethoven’s ‘Eroica’. This recital opens the string quartet weekend of the 2017 Beethovenfest.
