‘Orpheus in classical music, from Monteverdi to Offenbach’
with artists of the concert on 30.9. in the World Conference Center Bonn

The history of opera begins in 1600 with the Orpheus myth. What could have been more fitting than to have the power of music vanquish the evil forces of the Underworld! In preparation for the concert of the Musiciens du Louvre on 30 September, their conductor Sébastien Rouland and concertmaster Markus Kiesel from the Bonn Beethovenfest speak of the musical metamorphoses that the Orpheus legend has undergone in the history of music theatre – from late-Renaissance attempts to recreate the theatre of ancient Greece to the operetta parody by Jacques Offenbach.
