Campus 2001

In 2001, the Symphony Orchestra of the National Academy of Ukraine was invited as the first Campus orchestra and looks back at a long history. Its members are all students at the academy in Kiev, between the ages of 17 and 24. World-famous artists such as Sviatoslav Richter, Msitislav Rostropovich, Aram Khatchaturian and Natalia Gutman collaborated with the orchestra, as have Ukrainian conductors David Bertie, Mikhail Kannerstein, Veniamin Tolba and Stefan Turtschak. In 1980 Robert Kofman became artistic director and principal conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the National Music Academy of Ukraine The Campus concert served as a fundraiser for the children’s cancer ward at the Regional Hospital Kiev and stood under the patronage of the Minister for Urban Development and Living, Culture and Sport of the country of North Rhine-Westphalia, Dr. Michael Vesper.
