Look at Beethoven 2009 – Visual movements to the music

For the fourth time now, the Beethovenfest Bonn 2009 invites film-makers, film students, future TV journalists and anyone interested in film as a medium to confront the theme of classical music – with no restrictions whatever as to style:

Background information on this year's theme

The invitation has two parts:

1. Concept shortlist

Concepts for a music short up to eight minutes in duration must be submitted by 15 May; these may be fiction or non-fiction, real or animated. A jury will select five of these concepts for a production grant of 2,000 euros each.

2. Short-film competition

All the completed films, whether made with the help of a grant or not, must be submitted to the Filmbüro Bremen, which is co-ordinating the entries on behalf of the Beethovenfest, by 31 July. A jury will decide which of the films will be shown at the Beethovenfest between 4 September and 3 October 2009. The shorts will also be at the focus of an event devoted to films about music at the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in Bonn on 3 September.
