Simon Bode

During the 2016/2017 season, Simon Bode (born in Hamburg) is singing Belmonte in Mozart’s ‘Die Entführung aus dem Serail’ and Don Ottavio in Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’. Until the summer 2016, the tenor was member of Oper Frankfurt and performed in numerous new productions and revivals including his Belmonte debut in Christof Loy’s production of Mozart’s ‘Die Entführung aus dem Serail’, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni’, Tamino in ‘Die ‘Zauberflöte’, Fenton in Verdi’s ‘Falstaff’ and created the part of Junger Mann in Peter Eötvös’ world premiere ‘Der goldene Drache’.

In 2014, Simon Bode performed Don Ottavio in a new production of Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’ at De Norske Opera in Oslo followed by his first Belfiore in Mozart’s ‘La finta giardiniera’ at Niedersächsische Musiktage. He was also engaged at Staatsoper Hannover, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Theater Heidelberg, at Opéra National de Bordeaux and Bregenz Festival.

The tenor performed at Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, with NDR Radiophilharmonie, Ensemble Modern, Les Talens Lyriques and under the baton of conductors including Gregor Bühl, Stefan Blunier, Pierre Cao, Peter Eötvös, HK Gruber, Pablo Heras-Cassado, Andrew Manze, Andrea Marcon, Erik Nielsen, Patrik Ringborg, Ulf Schirmer, Giedrė Šlekytė and Sebastian Weigle. Several CD and Radio broadcasts reflect his artistic work.

Simon Bode’s chamber music partners include pianists Graham Johnson, Igor Levit, Nicholas Rimmer as well as the accordionist Elsbeth Moser, with whom he has performed many works and world-premieres outside of the standard concert repertoire. The Lied recitalist has sung in the concert series ‘Neúes Werk’ (New Work) at NDR Hamburg, at London’s Wigmore Hall and at Festivals including Festival Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, International Music Festival Heidelberger Frühling, Kissinger Sommer Festival, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele and Weilburger Schlosskonzerte. In 2017, he will make his debuts at Internationale Händel Festspiele Göttingen, Rheingau Musik Festival and Beethovenfest Bonn.
