Dorrit Bauerecker

Dorrit Bauerecker is a pianist and accordion player and lives in Cologne. She deploys the combination of piano and accordion in solo programmes as well as in modern musical theatre and musical cabaret productions.

In 2016 she performed at the Eight Bridges festival in Cologne as well as the Muziek Biennale Niederrhein and the Oberstdorfer Musiksommer. She recorded her programme ‘Inner Cities’ with WDR; it will be released on CD in 2017 and contains new compositions by Manos Tsangaris, Oxana Omelchuk and Simon Rummel.

Her commitment to contemporary music has earned her performances at the Donaueschinger Musiktage, the Wittener Tage für Neue Musik and festivals for contemporary music in Luxembourg and Belgium. She has already commissioned several compositions for her solo programmes; she has also implemented various intermedia improvisation projects as part of the Frischzelle festival in Cologne as well as at the Frauenfilmfestival Dortmund and the nxnw festival in Cologne.

Since 2015 Dorrit Bauerecker has worked with the singer and performer Barbara Schachtner in the ensemble INTERSTELLAR 2 2 7. In the theatre group ‘Generationenkomplott’ she travels throughout Germany with several literary cabaret programmes, both as a musician and as an arranger. She is also a founding member of the sextet ‘Die Rheinsirenen’.

Dorrit Bauerecker completed her piano studies at the Cologne and Hanover Conservatoires, with teachers including Pi-Hsien Chen; she obtained her artistic diploma in Cologne in 2001.
