Bernarda Fink

Born in Buenos Aires of Slovenian parents, Bernarda Fink received her vocal and musical training at the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón, where she also gave regular performances.
Bernarda Fink’s repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the 20th century, and she has performed with well-known orchestras under such conductors as Sir Colin Davis, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Valery Gergiev, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Mariss Jansons, Riccardo Muti, Sir Roger Norrington, Trevor Pinnock and Sir Simon Rattle.
As a lieder singer, Bernarda Fink is a regular guest in the great European musical centres. The 2011/12 season is taking her to the Wigmore Hall, where she will be performing with the Nash Ensemble (Mahler’s ‘Kindertotenlieder’) and giving a number of lieder recitals. In addition, this season will see her singing in Mozart’s Requiem under Mariss Jansons in Amsterdam, Mahler’s Song of the Earth’ in Ljubljana and Prague, Mahler’s Second Symphony under Sir Simon Rattle in the Berlin Philharmonie und in New York, Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’ under Ivor Bolton in Salzburg, Lili Boulanger’s 130th Psalm in the Vienna Musikverein and at the opening of the Handel Festival in Halle.
The singer’s extensive stage and concert repertoire is document by a no less extensive discography. Many of her CDs have received significant awards such as the Diapason d’Or or a Grammy. Her latest solo with songs by Slovene composers was released in spring 2011.
In February 2006 Fink was awarded the Austrian ‘Ehrenzeichen für Wissenschaft und Kunst’ by the Austrian Chancellor.
