Anaïk Morel


Anaïk Morel was born in Lyon (France). She completed her musical studies at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Lyon with Francoise Pollet and graduated top of the class. In 2006, she was awarded the Prix du Public and the Second Prix at the International Competition for Chamber Music in Lyon, in 2011 the fourth Prize at the prestigious Concours Reine Elisabeth in Brussels.

In 2006 she joined the Opera Studio of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich where she stayed for two years. From 2008 through 2010 she was a member of the Ensemble of the Bayerische Staatsoper where she performed ‘Carmen’ (Mercedes), ‘Nabucco’ (Fenena), ‘Falstaff’ (Meg Page), ‘Hänsel und Gretel’ (Hänsel), ‘Dialogues des Carmélites’ (Soeur Mathilde), ‘Palestrina’ (Silla) and ‘Die schweigsame Frau’ (Carlotta).

Meanwhile she has performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper, at the Staatsoper Berlin as well as at the Teatro alla Scala, at the Besançon Opera, at the Opéra National de Lorraine, at the Opéra de Lyon and at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, at the Opéra de Paris, at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken and at the Staatsoper Stuttgart as well as at the Salzburg Festival, where she took part in the World Premiere of ‘Charlotte Salomon’ by Marc-André Dalbavie.

In 2015/16 she made her successful debut as Carmen at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, a role she has also performed at the Zurich Opera.

Anaïk Morel appears regularly in concert and recital. She has performed with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal under the baton of Kent Nagano (‘L'Enfant et les sortilèges’), the Orchestre National de Lyon (Stravinski's ‘Pulcinella’), the Orchestre symphonique et lyrique de Nancy (Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Berlioz ‘Les nuits d'été’), Les Siècles and François-Xavier Roth (Mozart's ‘Krönungsmesse’) and Brussels Philharmonic and Hervé Niquet (Mozart's Requiem). She has also given a recital at the Amphithéâtre of the Opéra Bastille and at the Musée d'Orsay.

Among her upcoming opera projects, Preziosilla (‘La forza del destino’) at the Theater Basel, Fenena (‘Nabucco’) at the Bayerische Staatsoper as well as Charlotte (‘Werther’) at the Theater Klagenfurt and at the Opéra du Rhin.

Anaïk Morel has recorded melodies by Charles Koechlin (CD available on Timpani records, 2015).
