Mathias Vidal

Mathias VIDAL – tenor

 

He studied Musicology at the University of Nice, studied singing with teacher Christiane Patard and graduated from the Paris Conservatory in 2003. He was awarded the title of “Révélation Classique” from the ADAMI in 2007.

 

In the baroque repertoire, he took part in L’Orfeo, L’Incoronazione di Poppea, Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria, Hippolyte et Aricie, Pygmalion, Les Indes Galantes, Le Temple de la Gloire, Platée, Dardanus, King Arthur, The Indian Queen, La Didone, La Calisto, Persée, Le Carnaval de Venise.

 

In the French light-music repertoire, he sang Orphée aux Enfers, La Périchole, Barbe-Bleue, La Belle Hélène, Fra Diavolo, La Veuve Joyeuse, Le Dilettante d'Avignon, Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde.

 

His repertoire also includes Italian bel-canto roles in such pieces as Don Pasquale, La Sonnambula, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola.


In the past few seasons, he sang in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Der Schauspieldirektor, Il Re Pastore, Il Mondo della Luna, Macbeth, I Pagliacci, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, L'Enfant et les Sortilèges, L'Heure Espagnole, Ariadne auf Naxos, Dialogues des Carmélites, El Retablo de Maese Pedro, Don Quichotte (Boismortier), Olympie (Spontini), Carmen, Proserpine, Cinq-Mars.

 

This season, he sings L’Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Matsumoto Festival (Japan) and later with the Berliner Philharmoniker ; several title-roles: Der Zwerg by Zemlinsky in Lille and Rennes, Phaëton by Lully in Perm and Versailles, Orphée et Eurydice in Japan, the revival of Cinq-Mars in Leipzig, the world premiere of Fando et Lis in Saint-Etienne, Orlando Paladino in Munich, as well as many concerts with several ensembles (Les Musiciens du Louvre, Genève Baroque, Le Palais Royal, L’Arpeggiata, Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, Les Ombres).
