Annakathrin Laabs

Contralto Annekathrin Laabs comes from Erfurt and has sung in concerts on the national and international stage since 2002. She studied with Christiane Junghanns in Dresden and attended masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Peter Schreier, Anna Reynolds and Hans-Joachim Beyer, among others. From the beginning, the great oratorio and cantata works of Johann Sebastian Bach have been her area of expertise. Her reputation as interpreter of the works of Bach and his period has taken her to the renowned concert houses of Europe and international Bach festivals. Her active concert performances have brought invitations to concert series and CD productions throughout Germany and Europe, as well as in the USA, Japan and Russia. Alongside this she has dedicated herself enthusiastically to the concert, opera and lied repertoire of Romantic as well as contemporary music. Opera engagements have taken her to, for example, the Prague National Theatre, the Herrenchiemsee Festspiele, to Bad Lauchstädt, Gotha and Bad Hersfeld, lieder recitals with the pianist Mirella Petrova, and to many chamber-music festivals. Formative music partners past and present include Peter Schreier, Ludwig Güttler, Wolfgang Katschner, Gregor Meyer (Gewandhaus Leipzig), Kreuzkantor Roderich Kreile, Thomaskantor Gotthold Schwarz, Michael Schönheit and Hans-Christoph Rademann.
