A yearly changing festival theme relates Beethoven’s oeuvre to history and music of other centuries, up to the 21st century (between 2004 and 2011 43 musical works had their world premieres during the Beethovenfest Bonn, most of them comissioned by Beethovenfest Bonn) - The Orchestra Campus, in cooperation with Deutsche Welle, is an inherent part of the Beethovenfest Bonn since 2001: youth orchestras from the Ukraine, Turkey, Georgian Republic, China, Poland, South Africa, Egypt, Russia, Vietnam and Brazil have been guests. In 2011 for the first time ever the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq played outside Iraq. The orchestra was founded 2008 and hosts Arab and Kurd musicians.

Education Projects
- Ten services for students and trainees in the region: “How does it work?”, “Questions”, „Backstage“, “Clear the Stage for Beethoven”, “Young and Curious”, “Rendezvous”, “Orchestra Campus Dialogue”, “Student Presentations”, “Student Managers”, “Rehearsal Visits”
- 3,750 children and young people will be reached, 1,875 as active participants and 1,875 as part of specially designed services
- For nine month, the student managers of the Young Beethovenfest have been organizing the concert by Goran Bregović and his Wedding and Funeral Orchestra at the Telekom Forum on 17 September
- The Student Manager Project has already received a number of awards: the student managers won the 2009/2010 “Kinder zum Olymp!” prize awarded by the Kulturstiftung der Länder, and are among the prizwinners of the 2011“365 Orte im Land der Ideen”. In addition, the project was included in the list of model projects by the Federal Government’s Cultural Commissioner.
Venues
- The concerts take place in 25 different locations in Bonn and its rural environment: In concert halls as well as in churches, museums, former parliament buildings, historical industry sights, modern office buildings and castles.
- New venue for 2011 was Villa Hammerschmidt

- Tickets offered for the main programme 2011: 46.000, 2010: 40.500; 2009: 48.500; 2008: 39.000
- Entrance fees between € 9 and € 135 (add. fee for advance booking)
- Average ticket price: € 46
- In the main programme in 2011 a ticket uptake of 88 percent could be boast (2010: 86%; 2009: 90%; 2008: 92%)
- Origin of the visitors in the main programme: 10% foreign guests; 10% national guests; 82% regional guests. The internationals guests 2010 came from Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Rumania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Finland, Latvia, Russia, USA, Canada, Australia, Israel, Japan, Korea and Iraq.
Media coverage
- More than 100 journalists comment the Beethovenfest Bonn on a regional, national and international level, in print and digital media as well as on radio and TV.
- More than international 20 editors and critics visited Beethovenfest Bonn 2011. They came from Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Rumania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Finland, Latvia, Russia, USA, Australia, Israel, Korea and Iraq.
- More than 30 national journalists and more than 50 regional ones comment the Beethovenfest Bonn 2011
- Two third of the main programme concerts will be broadcasted by the mediapartners: regional broadcaster Westdeutscher Rundfunk, the national radio stations Deutschlandfunk / Deutschlandradio Kultur, and the external broadcaster Deutsche Welle. Deutsche Welle will be broadcasting a number of concerts worldwide, and making these and others available on podcast.

Personnel structure
- The Beethovenfest Bonn team consists of 13 permanent employees, during the festival about 60 staff members join the team, 12 interns and freelancers and 38 ushers
Budget
- Total budget for the Beethovenfest 2011: 4,8 millon €; 2010: 4,5 million €; 2009: 4,6 million €; 2008:4,075 million €
- 36% of the budget comes from public grants (the city of Bonn, the Rhein-Sieg district); project support from the state of North-Rhine Westphalia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- The remaining funds are raised by the company (through sponsors, foundations, ticket sales, media fees)
