»UTOPIA« - a utopian cross-section from Thomas More to Modernity with works by William Cornyshe, John Shepherd, Josquin des Pres, Orlando di Lasso, John Donne, Paul Patterson and others

Brave Old World

Utopian society has long been a dream of humanity. Long before Marx and Engels, Thomas More described the society of the future in his novel »Utopia«, written in 1516: peaceful, democratic, hierarchical, education-oriented, communist, imperialistic. The King’s Singers demonstrate what the madrigal composers of the subsequent centuries made of this explosive mix. The world’s probably most famous a cappella group compiled this programme exclusively for the Beethovenfest Bonn.
