Portugal’s Soundtrack
He is »number one« in Portugal, a multi-instrumentalist and sound tinkerer, always search-ing for the sound of the future: Rodrigo Leão, composer and keyboarder, attracted attention as long ago as the 1980s with Madredeus. Shortly after his global breakthrough with the soundtrack to Wim Wenders’ film »Lisbon Story« he left the band to devote himself to a solo career. With the Cinema Ensemble he creates sound kaleidoscopes in which elements of fado, pop, classical music, jazz, tango and bossa nova are lavishly expounded by strings, accordion and electric guitars.
