Utopian Music Made Audible
Music that was never composed has been brought out of its utopian existence and made audible by Luciano Berio. The starting points of his composition »Rendering« were the surviving sketches for Schubert’s symphony in D major, which Berio has incorporated into his composition. In addition to orchestrating Schubert’s sketches
he has filled in the blank areas between the surviving fragments with his own music. It is very clear which sections are original and which ones have been added.
