Bach, Beethoven, Mozart … for the great composers improvization was once a very natural part of their musical work. Today their compositions are given world-class performances by world-class pianists. Perfect. Note for note. Deviating, testing and playing around are hardly done anymore. Gabriela Montero, a young, classically trained pianist from Venezuela, has found her talent for improvization. She possesses the rare ability to improvize on any themes given to her by the audience. She thereby builds a bridge to jazz and world music.
