Sehnsucht und Erfüllung

This concert tells the love story of Clara and Robert Schumann through three works that were composed in 1840, the year in which they married under very difficult circumstances. While the song cycle »Myrthen« is still dedicated to the Clara Wieck of his affections and the words are full of longing and melancholy, »Liebesfrühling«, as the title [»Spring of Love«] fittingly reveals, is full of fulfilment. This song cycle is the first joint composition by the young couple. Three songs were composed by Clara, the rest by Robert Schumann.
