Mojca Erdmann

Mojca Erdmann, a soprano born in Hamburg, is one of the most significant and versatile stars on the international music scene, celebrated by critics and audiences alike. Mojca Erdmann is known for her broad repertoire, which ranges from Baroque to contemporary music; she can be heard in important opera houses, at festivals and in concert halls.

Mojca Erdmann began the 2016/17 season with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra in Ankara with a concert featuring works by Strauss and Mozart, after which she will demonstrate her impressive breadth with Beat Furrer’s ‘Spazio immergente’ at the Salzburg Mozartwoche, at a chamber music concert with works by Daj Fujikura and Harrison Birwistle at the Ultraschall Festival in Berlin, with the world premiere of Wolfgang Rihm’s ‘Requiem-Strophen’ with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra along with concerts of lieder by Franz Schubert and Mendelssohn’s ‘Lobgesang’, before completing the season with Luigi Nono’s ‘Il Canto sopreso’ with the SWR Sinfonieorchester in the Freiburg Konzerthaus. On the operatic stage Mojca Erdmann will perform as Susanna (‘Le Nozze de Figaro’) at the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona before returning to the Bavarian State Opera as Landlady in Miroslav Srnka’s opera ‘South Pole’, alongside Thomas Hampson and Rolando Villazón.

The artist is a guest performer at the world’s leading opera houses. She regularly performs at the Salzburg Festival and gives concerts in Germany, Austria, Denmark, Spain, France, Switzerland, Japan and South Korea. She is a frequent guest at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Philarmonie in Cologne, the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, where she was the artist in residence between 2012 and 2013, at the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg.

Mojca Erdmann has had an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon since 2009. Her debut album with arias by Mozart and Mozart’s contemporaries was released in 2011 under the title ‘Mozart’s Garden’. She performed the roles of Zerlina and Despina in the recent recordings of Don Giovanni and Così fan tutte released by DG.
