Gypsy Devils
The orchestra Gypsy Devils, founded in 1993, is made up of eight professional musicians possessing a classical education. Since its very first public performance, the ensemble has received great acclaim on the part of audiences and critics alike. Their virtuosity, immense dynamism and inspired arrangements soon caught the attention of music promoters abroad, resulting in the ensemble having the opportunity to perform at prestigious concert venues like in Berlin, London, Prague, Luzern, Melbourne, Wien and Istanbul, participate in the renowned Kissinger Sommer festival in Bad Kissingen, as well as give concerts in South Korea, Cyprus, England, France, Canada, Estonia, Finland, China and Shangai.
In Central Europe Gypsy Devils is one of the most popular ensembles, enjoying great interest on the part of the media and music fans. Their previous three albums have all been awarded platinum discs. As a result of the issue of their newest CD Adagio & Furioso, the Gypsy Devils are now available on the worldwide distribution catalogue of the Supraphon publishers. The Devils now find themselves ranked among the best-known classical music artists, and in Slovakia belong to that small group of artists who have achieved this status.
Gypsy Devils have also frequently collaborated on joint projects with classical music interpreters. Within a highly successful Symphonic project, they gave dozens of concerts with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc, the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlín, the Košice State Philharmonic Orchestra and Prager Sinfonieorchestra.
The Haydn alla Zingarese project, implemented in tandem with the Austrian piano virtuoso Paul Gulda, enjoyed a tremendous audience response and resulted in a successful tour of Germany. In the spring of 2011 there will be another joint project with Paul Gulda, this time featuring Franz Liszt’s works.
